Abstract

Indian corporate sector is very vast. It includes mainly manufacturing sector and service sector. Manufacturing sector means where production process takes place and service sector includes transportation services, banking sector, insurance sector etc. whether manufacturing companies or service sector companies are operating in the economy, every company have to maintain books of accounts, payrolls, vouchers, bills, any other documents which are concerned to the activities of the company. No doubt, companies maintain their own records but to check the accuracy of records and documents there is need of a process that is called auditing. Auditing is compulsory for companies. There is another term that is investigation which can also do in companies as well as anywhere whether it is criminal case or non criminal case. In corporate sector investigation is done when there is something suspicion in the company it may be concerned to criminal activity or non criminal activities. The main objective of this paper is to discuss the difference between auditing and investigation.
