THE ROLE OF POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY IN CREATING POSITIVE ENVIRONMENT IN AN ORGANISATION

Abstract

The present paper focuses on the accomplishment of various need of an individual plays important role in creating positive environment in an organisation. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs gives an insight to a leader in creating positive environment. The objectives of the present study were; (i)To analyze the relationship between accomplishment of the needs of the employees and positive environment of an organization.(ii)To explore the characteristics of leader that helps in creating positive environment in an organization Data regarding positive environment and need of employees were collected from 8 college principals and 6 school principals and 26 teachers of schools. The technique of Telephonic Interview and Questionnaire were used for data collection. It was found that Positive leadership creates a healthy environment by fulfilling the need of all the employees. It the leader would able to pay sufficient attention towards the fulfillment of needs of the employees, automatically it will create a healthy environment. Positive aspects of the leadership role were identified: Reward for good work of the employees or appreciation, assigning responsibility, creating feeling of belongingness among the employees receiving respectful treatment from a superior can make employee to feel very group oriented. Such actions can encourage employee to spread their own respectfulness, not just in a reciprocal fashion to those who gave them respect, but to the whole group or team to which they belong. A positive leader consults with their subordinates, respects their expertise and values.
